Pricing
One rate, spelled out
The same price for a first discovery flight and your last hour before a checkride — and you pay for it up front, before you fly.

What the hour covers
You pay before you fly, and nothing is itemized back to you later. The rate below is the whole lesson price.
Aircraft rental
The airplane is waiting and fueled for your lesson.
Certified flight instructor
A CFI is in the right seat for every hour you fly.
Fuel
No fuel surcharge tacked on after the flight.
Pre- and post-flight briefing
Planning and debrief time counts as part of the lesson.
Cost by program
Each figure multiplies the published minimum flight time by $220. Real students often need more hours than the minimum, so treat these as the floor, not the invoice.
| Program | Minimum flight time | Estimated cost | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Discovery Flight | 1 hour | $220 | One introductory flight in the pilot's seat |
| Private Pilot | 40 hours | $8,800 | FAA minimum total flight time for the license |
| Instrument Rating | 40 hours | $8,800 | FAA minimum instrument training time |
| Commercial Pilot | 250 hours | $55,000 | FAA minimum total flight time for the license |
The Commercial Pilot figure is total flight time across your whole career, not hours added on top of your Private Pilot and Instrument training.

This covers flight time only. The FAA and examiner fees below are billed by other parties and are not part of the $220 rate.
Costs outside our rate
These are set by the FAA, examiners, and aviation medical doctors — not by us. Plan for them alongside your flight hours.
FAA knowledge test
The written exam for each certificate, priced by the testing center.
Practical test (checkride)
The examiner's fee for your flight and oral test.
Aviation medical certificate
The medical exam an FAA-authorized doctor performs.
Your own equipment
A pilot headset, charts, and study materials.
How payment works
- 01
Request a slot
Pick a date and time of day on the booking form. Asking costs nothing — nothing is charged until we confirm.
- 02
Pay before you fly
When we confirm your slot we send payment details. Your hour is held once payment clears, settled up front before you taxi.
- 03
Fly the lesson
Your instructor briefs you, you fly, then you debrief what to work on next. Every hour is the same $220 — aircraft, instructor, and fuel included.
